Today's American Red Cross is keeping pace with the changing military. Using the latest in computer and telecommunications technology, the Red Cross sends communications on behalf of family members who are facing emergencies or other important events to members of the U.S. Armed Forces serving all over the world. These communications are delivered around-the-clock, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
When You Need Services to the Armed Forces (SAF)...
If your service member is away from home due to military duty and you need to get in touch with them during an emergency, the American Red Cross (ARC) needs specific information in order to expedite the message and to verify the situation. This verified information is then relayed to the appropriate military command. Information on the service member is required such as service member full name, branch of service, social security number or date of birth, military address and rank.

When should I call?
In the event of an emergency, critical accident, illness or death in a service member's immediate family, the Red Cross should be called at once. Red Cross emergency services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Who should I call?
For service members assigned to commands aboard Naval Station Mayport, NAS Jacksonville or Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, call toll-free: 1-877-272-7337. For all others calling in the Northeast Florida & Southeast Georgia area, please call the Northeast Florida Chapter at (904) 358-8091, or 1-888-843-5748 during normal business hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm). Call 1-800-448-1294 during the after-hours and holidays.

What services can you provide?
The Red Cross is equipped to verify emergencies and relay emergency leave requests or emergency notifications to proper military authorities. We also provide a variety of information, referral and advocacy services. And we can provide access to emergency financial assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These services and more are available to service members and their families.
